About Alan Sharp Barker

I was born in the late ‘70’s in Salt Lake City. I grew up in Bountiful, Utah and actively spent my leisure time playing sports, hiking, mountain biking, and making independent films.

Upon high school graduation, I attended school at Ricks Junior College in Rexburg ID. After a year there, I left to serve a Mission in the Great White North, the Canada Calgary Mission. My mission was one of the best experiences of my life. I learned a great deal about hard work, teaching others, and the importance of keeping perspective of what really matters in life. I then returned to Ricks and graduated with an Associates Degree in Computer Information Systems (That’s where I learned some of these skills to make my webpages). Following graduation I made a huge transfer, and transferred to the all new BYU-Idaho. I graduated as part of the first ever 4 year graduating class in 2002, with a BS in Business Management with an emphasis in marketing.

After college graduation I started a very successful business as a reseller of Dish Network Satellite TV. I traveled the country, and set people up with satellite TV in Roseville CA, Albuquerque NM, Riverside CA, Tucson AZ, Reno NV, Vacaville CA, and most recently Lubbock Texas. As you can see, I’ve been around. I’ve sold, and talked to thousands of different types of people from a vast array of cultures and backgrounds. My success in the Dish Industry came from offering customers outstanding service, and doing the job right. I found that you didn't need to be a greasy salesman to sell a product, but that you can also succeed by providing a superior product and service. People respect someone who is be honest and straight forward.

While in Reno, I met my beautiful wife Megan. We were married in February of 2005. As a married man I decided to cease the nomadic life and settle down here in Cache Valley. This is when I began my real estate career. We love the people, the beauty, and atmosphere here and decided this is the place for us to raise our family. The small town friendliness is great, the scenery is beautiful, and it’s easy for me as a Realtor to get to know each community and home on the market.

During my first few years as a realtor, I specialize in helping buyers find homes for sale in the Logan area. I effectively created websites that home buyers found useful, and they chose to use me as their real estate agent. After about two years, I had more business than I could handle. Now I work specifically as Cornerstone Real Estate's Internet Marketer. I help potential buyers find the best real estate information, and connect them with the best real estate agent to serve their needs.

Here's some of what I've been up to lately or found useful on the Internet:

My Sales Philosophy

I hate salesmen. I hate being pressured into buying something I don't want or can't afford. I hate it when salespeople try to sell you something, not really caring if it is something good for you, but do it soley because they want a commission.

Having made a living as a salesman for the past 5 years, I have learned a lot of top producing sells techniques. Yet, I don't bother trying to use them, because I despise them. I found that by working hard, and gaining trust with your clients you can still have success in a commission industry. People like being treated with respect, and outstanding service. In the long run they will in turn choose the "salesman" who does.

My philosophy is to always treat people right, and to help them the best I can regardless of what commission I may get out of it. I always try and put my clients first. As your real estate agent, I won't try to talk you into buying a certain house; but there are some things that I will do:

Client Testimonials

I can assure you I will work hard and do all I can to help you in your real estate transactions, but you don't have to just take my word for it.

Here is what a few of my past clients have said about my service as a Realtor, I have never asked any clients to provide testimonials:

"Thank you for putting up with us and for all your help. You are an awesome realtor and I appreciate all the hard work that you have done for us. We are way excited to finally have a home of our own thank you!! I appreciate all your hard work, patience and help."

"Thank you for being so accomodating to me. Thanks for also making sure that you are sending the photos of the homes to me. I really appreciate that. I see that you are dedicated in selling a home."

"You have been so awesome to work with and if we ever decide to buy another home (in like 90 years) we will definetly be coming back to you. (Thats scary, you probably want us to stay away, we have been such a pain). The house is all painted and the floor is covered in boxes, but we finally have a home of our own and we just want you to know how much we appreciate you and your help making this happen for us. We wish you the best with your new baby (when he gets here, if he hasn't already) and hope that things are great with everything else in your life! Thanks again, Alan."

"Alan, I picked you out of a line-up of folks in Utah and you have been terrific."

"Well I feel my relationship with you is a good one. If I email you or have any questions you always email me right away within the same day and you have been very helpful. You always answer my questions no matter how dumb the question and I appreciate that."

"You have been so great to work with and I would refer anybody to you. Please let me know if we can ever do anything to help you out and again thank you, you are the best!"

"I wish that we could have given you the commission from the sale of our home here, Our agent here did nothing for us. You did ten times the work she did, but didn't get a fraction of what she got..... You were always there and followed through with what you said you would, and were always easy to get hold of. Thanks so much and we'll keep in touch"
